Spanish 1

One of the best Spanish courses at academic level in all the Geonggi-Do province and possibly the all South Korea. In this course you will learn the entire cultural variety of the Hispanic world that spans over four continents. Although the Professor of this course is of European origins, he obtained his PhD (summa cum laude) from the highly celebrated Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), one of the 100 best Universities in the world ranked as the best in the Spanish speaking world by The Times Higher Education Survey and the QS Top Universities Ranking system. For this reason, Dr. Moscuzza can present the students with the best understanding of the syncretic fusion between the European and pre-Hispanic Latin American culture, since he has spent a long time researching about indigenous people of Central America and being familiar with Aztec and Maya languages and culture.

In this class we focus strongly on improving student‟s abilities to support their own ideas using evidence from the in‐class texts. We focus on using English to state an idea, and how to formulate evidence to make that idea a well‐supported and logical conclusion to reach from the film watched. Specifically, we look at what the „message‟ of a film is to each individual student, and examine ways of using both film and narrative techniques (such as, character, dialogue, setting, and key themes) to make arguments supporting the student‟s own ideas and understandings. In this way the class is both highly individualized to help students deeply engage with the materials, and also extremely relevant to real‐world academic and professional reading, writing, discussion, and analysis.

Understanding International Development

Why study this course? This course is useful for is useful for careers in multinational businesses, banking and finance, law, teaching, economics, international trade, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as charities, international organisations such as the United Nations, and government ministries. It's also useful for people who are generally interested in the concept of sustainable international development. Course introduction: How do the nations continue to develop economically while protecting our fragile environment? Sustainable development is the most urgent challenge facing humanity. The fundamental question is how the world economy can continue to develop in a way that is socially inclusive and environmentally sustainable. The course describes the complex interactions between the world economy and the Earth's physical environment. Ecological processes and constraints (climate, disease ecology, physical resources such as soils and energy sources, topography and transport conditions) significantly shape the patterns of economic development, demography, and wealth and poverty. At the same time, human activities (farming, land use, urbanization, demographic change, and energy use) change the physical environments, increasingly in dangerous ways. The course offers a broad overview of the key challenges and potential solutions to achieve sustainable development in the 21st century.
